I found this skirt recently at Goodwill, and I loved the orange/pink color combo...only a couple of challenges...
It was a size 16...and it was ankle-length.
But I had a vision...
You can see that it was just a tiny bit too big (sorry again for the weird picture, but wanted you to get the full effect). Nice, huh?
So I turned it inside out and pinned, just like I did for
THIS skirt (except I pinned only once, along the back seam instead of the sides (didn't want to lose the pockets), and then sewed/cut it down to size. This time I had to cut some length off and re-hem it as well. Only a small problem...since there was no zipper and I took up a lot of the elastic in the waist, I had to keep it a little loose to fit over my hips. I had an idea though...use the button tabs from the jacket...yes, it came with a jacket.
I mean, was whoever bought this outfit trying their best to look like a clown?? Because I'm pretty sure it worked.
I removed the buttons and pulled out the tab...and bummer...it was uncovered elastic in the middle.
So I cut out the elastic and sewed the two fabric pieces together. Then I sewed the two buttons onto the back of the skirt and attached the piece I sewed together. I made sure to space the buttons a little closer together than the total length of the piece so that it would gather the waist enough to make it tight.
Here is one way to wear it...
Yikes...someone's legs need to be introduced to the sun...
Or minus the belt/shoes/sweater for a lighter feel...
I am so happy that I kept the pockets!
